You don't know this face, but there are reasons you should. But not for the reasons you would think at first with a man unfairly labeled "a career criminal". His is a story that is both tragic and amazing. A judge in a Florida court had the soullessness to say that there is nothing that could be learned from this man, this brave human being. I beg to differ. I would like to introduce you to Michael Shane Glisson, Florida's Jean Valjean. He is currently incarcerated and awaits his first real chance at freedom after spending over half his entire life locked away, and knowing that a fate of growing old and dying behind bars is to be his if he doesn't decide now to ask for help. Each time he has emerged without any sense of hope, orphaned at a very young age he developed a need to escape the pain as any human tends to do, and as time passed he watched from inside the razor-wire that life was passing him by. This man has managed to keep hate out of his heart after 28 harsh years of incarceration that punished him more severely than he has deserved. Despite the injustice done him, Michael blames only himself even still.
Enough is enough. Everyone should have a day in the sun, free and confident in the knowledge that they are loved. He won't face the world alone this time, it will embrace him.
